Level 1 – BEGINNERS – LEARN TO SWIM AND SURVIVE
This is the beginner level where most very young children will commence. The average age for progression through this level is roughly 1-4 year olds. During this level, students are introduced to the aquatic environment. The goal at this point is to make them keen, comfortable & safe swimmers. Skills worked on include floating, safe entries & exits, bubbling & breathing, gliding, paddling & kicking. Lots of practice is done to develop the “swimming muscles”. Students are rewarded with a special G'DAY SWIMMING certificate when they complete this level.
Level 2 – INTERMEDIATE – STROKE DEVELOPMENT – SAFETY AND SURVIVAL
This is the middle level where most older children, teenagers & beginner adults will commence. The average age of students that work through this level is roughly 5-7 year olds. Students at this level build on their Level 1 skills. They learn to be more comfortable & safe in deeper water. Students are taught basic diving and given harder underwater tasks. They learn to co-ordinate moving arms & breathing with their gliding & kicking skills, producing increasing amounts of effective freestyle & backstroke. Students also start to develop their breaststroke skills. They are rewarded with a special G'DAY SWIMMING t-shirt when they complete this level.
LEVEL 3 – ADVANCED – STROKE ENHANCEMENT – CARNIVAL & JNR SQUAD PREP – LIFESAVING
This is our highest & most challenging level. Students at this level generally will have had at least a few years swimming lessons under their belt. The average age of students here is roughly 8-11 year olds. A student who completes this level should be able to survive safely if they fell off a boat in the ocean 100m from shore, either by swimming to shore &/or treading water for 10 mins whilst signaling for help. They build on their INTERMEDIATE skills, increasing their stamina & range of strategies for deep water/survival & rescue situations. Students also improve their diving & underwater skills. They learn to tumble turn and build speed, endurance & technique in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke & butterfly. Students must complete at least 100m freestyle (in under 3 mins), 100m breaststroke, 75m backstroke & 25m butterfly while maintaining good technique. Students are presented with a special silver G'DAY SWIMMING trophy upon completion.
